People are smart, you know that. They have a keen sense of smell. They can tell which company is professionally selling serious stuff and and which ones are absolute idiots from a mile away. That sounds scary, isn't it?

My fingers were literally shaking at the thought of this while reviewing my awesome product. I wasn't sure about how to go about offering it to the market. I was half-meditating and half-groping when I typed "sales and marketing pro" in Google. That's when I saw Sales and Marketing Pro of Palo Alto right on top of the search page. My eyes went as large as plates.

I spent the next 30 minutes reading about it before shouting, "Eureka!" (That was 7pm and the staff was home so I couldn't care less). I immediately ordered for my own copy, ordered dinner and started work (right, at 7pm). I was amazed at how the software guided me step-by-step it was a breeze. I didnt' finish that night, but I went home at 10pm totally pumped up.

The next day, I was further astounded by the extras - initial email blast to 1,000 addresses (which we used to test the effectiveness of our message), a contact management software, presentation templates, and simply a lot more. You just have to see them for yourself.

PROS:

  • You don't need an MBA. You just need to follow the step-by-step process. If you really know your product, you can fill up the information and voila! You have a plan.
  • The plan is not cast in stone. Sales and Marketing Pro allows you to monitor the plan against actual performance and lets you either adjust your performance or revise your plan based on your judgement of what's required.
  • It's a complete package. Well, maybe you would say not. But you can start a sales and marketing campaign professionally with everything the package has.
  • I find the export feature to Powerpoint, Word, Excel or PDF absolutely powerful. You want to be faithful to your plan and you want your creative inputs stored in Sales and Marketing Pro, not in an MS Office document stored somewhere.

CONS:

  • The package contains 3rd party services that you actually must subscribe to, in order to continue enjoying their services. Email marketing service, where you get 1,000 free email addresses, would be one. Another one is the contact management software, where you get free 6 months subscription. A healthy attitude about these introductory offers built into a product that you have paid for would be very handy.
  • The package help you make the task of creating a sales and marketing plan simple, BUT it doesn't make the task easier. You're still the one who would create the plan, not the product, no matter how awesome its features are. If you want ready-made plans, you can buy cheaper templates somewhere else and good luck!
  • You may be aesthetically oriented in your presentations. Temper your expectations about the ready made powerpoint templates. They look professional, yes, but perhaps not according to your exceptional tastes. As soon as you have exported your presentation to Powerpoint, then tweaking its theme according to your taste should be easy.
  • You might be tempted to use your word processor to type your plan. The package has word processing features, but it is not its strength. Bear with it. Your buying the product to help you come out with a plan, not a gorgeous looking document. The export feature would allow you to make it look neat later, using your favorite word processor.

RECOMMENDATION:

You want to be your company's Chief Sales and Marketing Officer? Sales and Marketing Pro is the only way to go. Can't do without one. Click this now and shout Eureka!
